More ways to connect your food and glucose.

Your CGM or meter shows the spike. Spike helps you understand why. The latest Spike for iPhone brings reusable meals, community recipes, carb-conscious planning, and longer meter trends into the same place as your food diary and glucose readings.

Spike is free to start on iPhone. In-app subscriptions are available. Spike Pro adds unlimited meal logging, weekly planning, optional fasting tracking, and expanded insights. Current plans and any trial offer are shown in the app.

Spike is also available on Android. This guide covers the iPhone 5.0 experience. Android supports meter and compatible Health Connect CGM tracking, AI meal insights, and trends; features vary by platform.

Start with the glucose readings you have.

Wear a CGM? Spike reads glucose shared with Apple Health by compatible apps, including Stelo, Dexcom G7, Lingo, and FreeStyle Libre. Support and sync timing depend on your source app, device, and region. Your sensor’s official app remains the place for current readings and alerts.

Use a fingerstick meter? Enter your checks in Spike and explore today, the past week, the past month, and the past year. A meter records the moments you check. It cannot fill in a continuous curve or reveal the exact peak between readings.

When enough CGM readings are available around a logged meal, Spike can show its baseline, peak, rise, and recovery. These are observations from your readings. They help you explore patterns; they do not establish a medical cause.

Keep the meals you want to learn from.

My Meals gives your go-to foods a place to live, with photos, ingredients, quantities, cooking steps, and estimated nutrition. Save a meal, log it again, and build your own history of food alongside glucose readings.

Explore recipes from Spike Kitchen and the community with estimated carbs and ingredients in view. Save something privately, log it, or add it to a weekly plan. A meal idea is a starting point for your own observations, rather than a promise about your next glucose response.

AI food insights add context.

A meal photo can help estimate calories, carbs, sugar, fiber, protein, and fat. Review and edit the estimate before logging. AI meal insights offer another way to examine food, including satiety, nutrient density, estimated glycemic index and load, and suggestions to explore next time.

AI estimates and your measured glucose curve have different sources. A photo does not measure your blood sugar. Estimates can be inaccurate, while the curve depends on actual readings. The weekly AI Wellness Score in Pro summarizes nutrition and hydration from food and water logs; it is not a medical score.

Bring what you learn to your next meal.

Spike’s meal tools support carb-conscious, glucose-focused choices. With Pro, set carb preferences, adjust portions, and create a repeating weekly plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Swap a meal when your day changes. Today’s planned meals appear first.

Optional fasting tracking is also part of Pro. Sessions start only when you choose, include a safety check before setup, and can end at any time. Discuss fasting or changes to your routine with your care team.

Keep your own diary private.

Your food diary, glucose readings, weekly plan, and fasting history are not community posts. Sharing is optional: choose profile details and submit a recipe for review if you want to contribute. Recipe review checks completeness and appropriate content, rather than certifying medical or nutritional accuracy.

Raw glucose is read on your device through Apple Health. Private meal-response summaries sync to your account. Health data is never sold or used for advertising. Read the privacy policy for details.
